About the Cátedrac
The Institutional Chair ("Cátedra") for the Camino de Santiago and Pilgrimages of the University of Santiago de Compostela was created by legislative enactment on June 29, 2016. It is administered under a unique Memo of Understanding signed on August 7, 2019 by representatives of the University, the Galician Office of Tourism, and the Cathedral of Santiago’s Cultural Foundation.
Its objectives are focused on the promotion of the values at the core of the Camino de Santiago and its Pilgrimage. It hopes to stimulate the creation of courses of study, seminars, lectures and other educational offerings which advance awareness of the Camino de Santiago and its Pilgrimage. It celebrates external institutional initiatives that aid in appreciation of pilgrimages and encourage reflection and discussion of Camino themes where mutual enrichment among participants improves intellectual inquiry and instructional modes in higher education. Teamwork among educators and their sponsoring academic units build better outcomes among their students and original research achieves great diffusion through publication and live presentations. The "Cátedra" will receive and continually update bibliographic and archival resources. Students for their part will have opportunities to participate in its initiatives through fieldwork, practicum experiences and extension of their own universities’ programing.Read more

JACOBEAN NETWORKb
The Jacobean Network is a database of professional resources for teachers and researchers. It serves as a tool for finding upto- date information on active researchers, institutional initiatives, academic events and journals dedicated to the study of the Camino and world pilgrimages.
Its principal goal is to encourage independent mutual contact for exploring topics dealing with the Camino de Santiago, share projects and communicate opportunities for support for researchers, dissemination of information and aids for teachers. Building a worldwide Jacobean Network will bring together scattered efforts and revitalize Camino projects, incentivize academic events, research projects, international conferences and gatherings. It will stimulate publications that deepen and broaden appreciation for pilgrimage as well as improving teaching approaches.
The Jacobean Network strives to be an open and self-renewing tool. Everyone engaged in projects embracing the Camino de Santiago is invited to contribute to its success by updating the existing data set or encouraging others to add their own. New points of entry may be suggested by contacting us at catedra.caminodesantiago@usc.es
